Silk Fabrics We import only Grade A silk fabric from the best regions in China. Since less than 10% of its total production is graded "A", this silk is in great demand, particularly in Europe and Japan. Suppliers usually save this grade for their best customers. Silk by nature has some irregularities in all weaves. Grade A silk, however, is woven with silk yarns of more uniform size and thus has minimal irregular weaves. Also, it is free of gummy and waxy substances, and therefore, accepts dyes more easily and evenly.
"mm" or "momme" is the weight of the silk - the higher the mm, the heavier the silk. A bolt is approximately 50 yards. All fabric width here is 45" unless specified.
